Thought Leader Audit

The Brigadoon Thought Leader Audit is an ideal tool to properly analyze your communications and content as well as create a foundation and process for ongoing success.

To win in today's dynamic marketplace shaped by numerous constituencies, consumers, and candidates, Brigadoon helps leaders create compelling communications, focused content, and winning commerce.

At the heart of this success is conducting an audit of your existing assets, reviewing your tools, and exploring tactics to  move your communications efforts forward.

Winning commerce of the future will happen when an organization is trusted, provides high-quality services and products, and where business decisions reflect shared values.

Want to move forward?

First, you contact Marc Ross by phone (703) 598-3242 or complete the contact form. We arrange a time to speak briefly about your situation and whether or not this is a good fit for you. Assuming you want to move forward…

Second, we find the next available dates and send you acceptance materials that will work with both of our schedules. By email, you’ll receive an agreement (to sign and return), a list of materials to gather, a proposed schedule for the on-site portion, and an invoice.

Third, we’ll conduct the on-site portion during two 90-minute conversations.

We start off by asking the client to describe the vision for their communications and how they differentiate themselves from their competition.  From there we ask the client to identify their favorite communications projects, media campaigns, and marketing efforts - both internal and external. This exercise allows us to hear directly from the client on how and why they see the development of a proper communications effort is needed and the aspirational actions necessary to move forward.

After we establish the goals, we go through several exercises where we ask the client to personify their communications or advocacy. For example, we'll ask questions like, if your communications was a famous actor, who would it be? And if your communications was a baseball team who would it be? And if your communications was a city which city would it be?These type of questions force the client to think about the personality and feel they want their communication or advocacy to convey.

Finally, after we present a path forward we stand by during implementation. We'll assist you via phone or email over a period of up to three months or three significant phone calls, whichever is first. These calls are not like a coach might have with you, in that they are not regularly scheduled and they are not designed to keep you accountable.

How it works - The Brigadoon Five-Step Thought Leader Audit

Step 1: Vision

We start off by asking the client to describe the vision for their communications and how they differentiate themselves from their competition.  From there we ask the client to identify their favorite communications projects, media campaigns, and marketing efforts - both internal and external.

This exercise allows us to hear directly from the client on how and why they see the development of a proper communications effort is needed and the aspirational actions necessary to move forward.

Action step = On site, 90-minute conversation with the client and Brigadoon

Step 2: Personification

After we establish the goals, we go through several exercises where we ask the client to personify their communications or advocacy.

For example, we'll ask questions like, if your communications was a famous actor, who would it be? And if your communications was a baseball team who would it be? And if your communications was a city which city would it be?

These type of questions force the client to think about the personality and feel they want their communication or advocacy to convey.

Action step = On site, 90-minute conversation with the client and Brigadoon

Step 3: Outline Concepts

Brigadoon goes back to the office where we sketch and develop an outline based on a collection of ideas, scraps, aha moments, concepts, theories, and possibilities captured and fosters over our 3-hour conversation.

Action step = One week for Brigadoon to prepare rough ideas and concepts

Step 4: Score + Grade

Utilizing Brigadoon’s unique 100 point scoring system, we audit the client's current state of communications by looking at the four pillars needed to be successful and impactful: social + digital, offline engagement, owned media, and buzzworthy reputation.

Action step = One week for Brigadoon to conduct the audit

Step 5: Present a path forward

Brigadoon presents its audit findings, as well as identifies the most impactful ideas based on the aspirational vision and personality of the client's communications matched against the realities of the client’s current tools, talent stack, staffing, commitment, and budget.

Action step = 120-minute conversation with the client and Brigadoon
